Thanks to the wonderful Amy & Kieron from Don’t Ever Look Back, I’ve been nominated to participate in ‘My 7 Links‘; a way to unite bloggers and share links to our old blog posts that have fallen to the wayside. I took the opportunity to go through my blog (WOW, have I grown!), and pick my favorites to share with you. Hope you enjoy!
1. My Most Beautiful Post
Motherland
I think Motherland is my most beautiful post because of the strong connection I have to Africa. It’s my dream to go one day, and I actually cried while writing this post. I think it features some of my best writing to date
2. My Most Popular Post
How I Didn’t Let My Quarterlife Crisis Ruin My Life
One of my most honest posts is actually my most popular. I’ve been suffering from a quarterlife crisis for some time, but I didn’t let it ruin me completely. Just as I was on the brink of letting my depression swallow me whole, I found my passion. I found my joy for life. I found out that travel was really what I wanted to do. Don’t let depression ruin your life. See a therapist, talk to friends, figure out your passions. Take control of your life.
3. My Most Controversial Post
Warning! This Post is About Sex!
Any post about sex is going to ruffle some feathers, but I’m SO glad I wrote it. It’s honest, blunt, and to the point. Sex while traveling is a topic I think everyone should address. It’s bound to come up, whether you’re traveling solo or as a couple. I learned so much about doing the deed about traveling, and everyone was so supportive and awesome. It’s okay to talk about sex, ya’ll! I should probably do it more often
. Bowchicawowow!
4. My Most Helpful Post
Finding Your Passion During a Quarterlife Crisis
This post just so happens to be my second most popular post! Finding your passion is something that is hard to do, quarterlife crisis or not. I only use three steps: Write, Research and Put in motion. Simple, easy, and a really great first step to really finding out what makes you jump for joy and have sleepless nights because you’re so excited. In a rut? Check this link out!
5. A Post Whose Success Surprised Me
Oh Shit, I Eat Plants!
This is one of my most recent posts, and one that randomly generated a lot of buzz. I wasn’t really expecting much, since I know the majority of people I interact with are meat eaters, but all the comments blew me away! I found out how to say ‘I am Vegetarian’ in Spanish, cooking tips and motivation for being a vegetarian traveler. I think having the word ‘shit’ in the title helped a little bit too
.
6. A Post I Feel Didn’t Get the Attention It Deserved
A Spiritual Awakening in Patmos
Maybe it was the whole ‘spiritual’ thing that scared people away…I have no idea. But this is a gorgeous post about my time on the Greek island of Patmos, which is largely a Christian pilgrimage site. It was an incredible, mind blowing, awesome experience and I want to share it with you again.
7. The Post I’m Most Proud Of
2 Week Notice
I quit my job!I have never been so proud of myself in my entire life. My job was making me miserable, fat and depressed and I just couldn’t take it anymore. I was in the middle of taking a month long break from work to try and get my shit together, when I decided I just wasn’t going to go back. I’ve never felt so free, so powerful, so badfuckingass. And that’s why I’m so proud of this post. I still can’t believe I really did it!
So check my links out! Love on them, hug them and do a little dance. I’m so happy I had a chance to participate, it brought back so many memories. I seriously feel like a completely different person from the start of my blog until now. Grow baby grow!
PS. I have awesome, important news coming up very shortly. Argentina ain’t ready!
