While planning my trip, I’ve also been taking breaks to find travel accessories I must get my hands on before I leave. I’ve been steady bookmarking items on Etsy, mostly because Etsy is the best thing to ever happen to the world, but also because I love the idea of having something handmade with love.
1. Leather travel backpack
I’ve realized that I’m going to need a backpack. I just cannot imagine having to roll my giant suitcase across Europe over cobblestone streets. But you know me…I don’t want just any normal backpack. I’m imagining a huge leather one like the one I found Etsy…or maybe a vintage military style backpack with leather embellishments. I have my eyes the one above (you can fnd it here), but it’s just not big enough. Maybe I’ll put in a special request
.
2. Vintage Style Travel Journal
I obviously plan on blogging while on my trip, but since I can’t lug my laptop with me everywhere, I plan on carrying a journal with my to capture my most awesome moments. One look at this journal on etsy and I completely fell in love. Charms? Vintage style envelope inserts? Stamped luggage tags? Just give them my debit card now!
3. Personalized leather luggage tags and passport holder
I kind of don’t care what I have to do to own these two items, but I will have them. How incredibly luxe and beautiful! I love the small details on the luggage tags: the gold buckle, the hand stitching, the color of the leather, just EVERYTHING. The passport case is just as awesome. If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m slightly obsessed with leather. Give me leather everything!
4. Sleep Mask

I don’t know about you, but there is one thing I absolutely cannot travel without and that’s a sleep mask. I’m the kind of person that has to have complete darkness to sleep. Airports, hotels, hostels, bus rides, train rides… sleep masks are essential for getting a rest anywhere. Of course, I love anything super glam, and this boudoir style sleep mask is just the thing I need. It also comes in handy when I might need a blindfold. Bowchikawowow!
These are just a few of the things I’ve been lusting over in between almost driving myself crazy planning this trip. I always thought trip planning would be easy and fun…and while it’s been fun (in between the moments of hot mess craziness), it’s definitely hasn’t been easy. The element of having a boyfriend traveling with me adds a whole different perspective. Making decisions together, trying to decide what apartment to rent, what time our flights should leave, how long in each country. It’s daunting. But I wouldn’t trade any of this for the world.
We’ve finally finalized our European leg of the trip (so far). On Monday I’ll announce our official itinerary. Now we’re basically just trying to figure out where to go from there. Bangkok? Costa Rica? Buenos Aires? The possibilities are endless!

These are AWESOME. I want to eat that leather bag. You’re so going to get robbed if you get them.
When I first found the backpack, I seriously screamed in happiness at my computer. It’s absolutely everything that is good in this world. But you are right……I’d probably get robbed in a heartbeat. Damnit! That bag is just….. *sigh* I just keep looking at it. I want it to be mine nowww!
Wow Sheryll, thankyou for including me in your blog! From a girl who is obsessed with sleepmasks, Natalie AKA MadEmoiselle Sugar xx
That journal…omg! I WANT THAT JOURNAL!
LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!
ahh! i love all of these things. esp. the journal. im a sucker for journals! its a good thing you didnt do this post before i went to europe earlier this month or im sure i would have spent way too much on everything here. one thing i do definitely wish i wouldve had: sleep mask! how do i still operate without one???
WHAT! Girl…a sleep mask is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. You always wake up feeling refreshed!
I love those luggage tags! I don’t love passport covers though – a friend gave me one and while cute, it’s kind of a pain in the ass if they have to take your passport out of it to swipe it. I know some people enjoy them though despite the hassle.
It’s definitely a hassle, but I’m the type of person who carries all my makeup and stuff in my purse, and it’d be just my luck that my bronzer somehow cracked and it gets all over everything. I just like it safe, clean and dry lol!
Oooh I LOVE Etsy – I can hours looking around it
I want that journal – it’s gorgeous!
Etsy is my ultimate guilty pleasure. I just want to buy everything!
I am a sleep mask and ear plugs kind of gal myself! I totally feel your pain.
And I agree with Emily, I have the same issue with passport carriers. Fortunately (wait…what?) mine just got stolen so I don’t have to worry about that anymore.
OH NO!!!! I hope everything is okay!
Remember that if, after Europe, you’re heading Latin America way, to give me a headsup so we can have a fabulous meetup!
Oh my gosh! Etsy! Why have I not been looking for travel accessories here? I must be mad. I love love love that sleep mask.
Isn’t it GORGEOUS?!
