9 Hours in Le Louvre

by Sheryll on February 23, 2012

Yup, you read that right. Johnny and I spent 9 hours in Le Louvre (with a break for a long lunch and shopping in the Carrousel du Louvre). While Musée d’Orsay is still my favorite, no trip to Paris is complete without a trip to the most famous museum in the world.

And even if you only have a few hours to spend to see the famous things (Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace, the whole Egypt wing), make sure to see the Napoleon Apartments. Located in the Richelieu wing, it was hands down my favorite thing in the Louvre. I’m pretty sure Johnny and I spent an hour there alone, gawking at everything. It was breathtaking!

The first time I went to Europe I missed out on going to the Louvre…long story… So when I went this summer I spent about 7 hours looking at everything!

omg, i was there in august and i just couldn’t bear it! it was SO hot, i dont think they believe in AC and the massive amounts of people made me just want to bounce. of course we saw mona and venus but i think we only spent a couple hours there. i’d like to go back when its not so hot and not so many people (does that ever happen?) or just live vicariously through other people’s trips! :) hehe

I am SO glad I didn’t go in the summer. When we went, it was dead winter. There weren’t any lines at all, and the crowds were minimal. I can’t imagine what type of zoo it is in the summer.

This place is massive… you can spend weeks there and not see it all. I spent a whole day there… okay like 5 hours…lol. I bounced after seeing the major sights and Egypt wing. I’m not a huge fan of museums… so can’t handle them after a few hours. I love the photos! Just beautiful~

Truly stunning pictures, Sheryll. I’m so impressed you spent 9 hours there! I’ve been to Paris countless times but, alas, have still not managed to go to the Louvre yet.

When I went to the Louvre, I only spent three hours there. I ran around, looking like a deranged puppy, panting wildly at all the art, sweating, as the chic French staff stared at my disheveled Canadian face with mild repulsion. Then I stared for a while in Napoleon’s apartments and contemplated how if I stole one spoon, I could travel indefinitely. I love Paris.
