I know it’s been quiet around here the past week. I’ve been crazy busy around school, organizing a Dear Santa letter contest and working on my materials for my winter camp.

Yes, I wore Christmas reindeer antlers to work today. Gotta keep the Christmas spirit alive!
Christmas this year doesn’t feel like it did last year. Last year, I was in Paris and everything was magical and awesome. Christmas markets, vin chaud, the Eiffel tower….sigh. Seeing pictures on Facebook and Instagram of my friends and family back home is making me incredibly homesick, much more than last Christmas. I think it has something to do with the fact that I feel like such an outsider here. In Paris, Johnny and I blended in. The language was familiar. It weirdly felt like home. Also, Korean people don’t seem to celebrate Christmas as much, and from what I’m told, Christmas is more of a couples “date” holiday than a family one. Most of my students said they don’t receive gifts, and they just plan on spending their day in a PC bang.
But, I’m still going to have a wonderful Christmas! Johnny and I are going ice skating, to the movies to see Les Mis, and out to a nice dinner. I’m praying it’s not too cold to go ice skating, because I really want to go. This morning it was so cold my hair froze. Intense!
I want to wish each and every one of you a Merry, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! No matter where you are in the world, I hope your Christmas day is filled with love, laughter, tons of delicious food, family and friends.
Posting will be back to regularly scheduled programming after the New Year!

Very belated but I hope you had a great Christmas. I’m so glad you had Johnny – It can be so hard being away from home during the holiday time.
