1. What is your inspiration behind your blog name?
This is a long convoluted story so I’m going to give the most succinct version I can, haha. I’m a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma tribe. In my About Me section you’ll see the words Mismiki Nashoba, that name is Choctaw, the words direct translation is Beautiful Wolf. When I first started my blog I really felt like a lone wolf out there, hence the blurb “I’m The Beauty Wolf, roaming the plains of makeup and forging the rivers of skincare.” As corny as it sounds, I now I see myself as more of a mama wolf out there finding the best things I can for all my beautiful follower pups! Doing my website is so much fun, I have a blast making it and I really hope people enjoy it!
3. Your product photos are absolutely amazing. I’m obsessed with the adorable designs you create. What is your inspiration behind the photos?
Wow, thank you so much! I really was afraid everyone would think my pictures were just entirely too weird and skip right over my blog. My inspiration is just my weird brain haha. My apartment is very modern and minimal, everything is either black or white, every piece of clothing I own is either black, white, or grey, but for some reason my artistic expression has always been surreal and colourful. I was always known as the arty kid growing up. When I used to draw and paint it was always weird busy stuff, I guess that aesthetic just carried over when I picked up collaging. I used to have an Etsy store selling my art prints but now I just do them for the website 🙂
4. What is your basic skincare routine? Do you have any special tips or tricks?
Skincare is such a fun thing, I worked for years as a professional makeup artist but I also hold a certificate in esthetics so it’s my side love. When I’m not testing products my morning routine consists of Missha First Treatment Essence, then my Benton toner (I’m switching between the BHA aloe toner and the Snail Bee toner lately). My tip there would be when doing the toner step I’ll mix in a few drops of the OST vitamin C20 serum, it really helps to cut the stickiness of the OST.After that I do my Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence, next I apply Benton Snail Bee High Content lotion (or Benton Aloe Propolis soothing gel hit up with some drops of Baobab or Argan oil, a tip I got from Kerry of Skin & Tonics!), I follow all that up with Benton steam cream. To finish it all off I apply an SPF50 sunblock. I’m always testing new ones and have yet to find my HG, the sunblock struggle is real!
5. What are your must have products for your makeup bag?
I can’t go anywhere without a good lip balm. I still have yet to find anything better than my trusty Aveda Lip Saver. I also have to have a mist with me, right now I’m loving Nature Republic Bee Venom Mist Essence. I also have to carry some Duo eyelash glue for whatever lash I decided to glue to my face that day. Other than that I always have a rotating harem of lipsticks and stains. I just went and had a peak in my bag now and saw Etude House Minnie Kissing Lips lipstick in Mini Red, Etude House Soft Touch Auto Lipliners in Milky Brown and Soft Rose, and a Tony Moly Kisslover lipstick in Coco Beige. Not gonna lie, I bought that last one because my name is Coco, but I ended up loving it. It’s a good dupe for Mac’s Peachstock.
