OST Original Pure Vitamin C20 Serum Review

ostvitaminCserumI’d read all the amazing reviews about the best selling OST Original Pure Vitamin C20 Serum, and immediately put it on my wish list. Judging from other reviews I had read, it seemed to be a little bottle of magic. It claims to brighten the skin, help heal scars, remove blackheads, and tighten pores…all things I could definitely use help with, especially the brightening part since winter has taken away my “glow”. When Wishtrend offered to send me a bottle, I snatched up the opportunity. Does the little brown bottle live up to the hype?

In 2 words: GIRL. YES.

The OST Original Pure Vitamin C20 serum is packaged in a dark amber glass bottle with a dropper. The dark glass is imperative because vitamin C oxidizes in sunlight, and that’s the last thing you want to happen. It is best to store your bottle in a dark and cool place as well, to preserve as much vitamin c goodness as possible. I actually keep mine in the fridge, but anywhere is great as long as it’s not your bathroom or near a window. Vitamin C has long been used in serums and skincare products, but most of the time not in a high concentration. Vitamin C is so popular because it helps produce collagen, acts an an anti-oxidant, and restores and regenerates the skin. It’s particularly helpful for fading acne scars, evening your skin tone and firming your skin. This particular serum has 20% vitamin C, which is the pretty much highest percentage you can get on the market.

The serum itself is a slightly orange tinted, slightly thick and sticky liquid. It smells quite like a citrus fruit, but the smell doesn’t linger. You only need a few drops to cover your whole face. I had read a few different reviews and even read the Wishtrend website before I received the product, and heard that the OST serum could slightly tingle upon application. The first time I used it, it stung my face pretty bad. It was definitely more than a tingle. My immediate first instinct was to splash my face with water because it felt like my face was burning.

Me: (standing in my bathroom doorway, fanning my face and pacing) Oh my god.
Johnny: …………………..what are you doing?
Me: It’s burning! I knew they said it would tingle but this is some other shit! (fanning face)
Johnny: ………………………………………………..Should you wash it off?
Me: NO! I gotta work through it.

Shortly after this exchange, the burning sensation passed. I was still slightly paranoid the rest of the night, checking my skin in the mirror to make sure I didn’t have some weird allergic reaction. After the initial application of the serum, my skin did feel slightly sticky, but once I continued with the rest of my skincare routine, everything was back to normal.

Fortunately, when I woke up the next morning, my skin looked brighter and WAY smoother. It was sort of like I had a real life instagram filter on my face. (hey girl hey Valentina filter!) After that first tingling/burning reaction, I read that a lot of people like to mix it with their toner, so, that’s what I started doing and my results are soooo much better. I don’t experience any of the tingling sensation, and what’s more, when you mix it with your toner, you don’t get as much of the stickiness that you have when you use it by itself. I personally use it with my Benton Snail Bee High Content Skin, and have also used it with my Nature Republic Argan Toner. I’ve even heard of people adding a few drops to their moisturizer!

I like to use the serum at night, only because it is slightly exfoliating, and I like to be able to wash off the dead skin in the AM. If you follow a Korean skincare routine, the serum would come after you cleanse and use a toner. Since I mix my toner and this serum together, I like to think of the serum as sort of a booster, and then I still apply a separate serum/essence afterwards.

Again, like most of the reviews out there, I have had fantastic results with the OST Original Pure Vitamin C20 Serum. I’ve been using it consistently for 6 weeks, and there has been a definite change in my skin’s appearance. Most noticeably, my skin is much brighter and more even. It feels smoother as well and just generally looks healthier. It looks like I get 12 hours of sleep a night, wake up at 5am to do sunrise yoga, and juice all day long (when in reality I sleep maybe 6.5 hours a night, I frequently wake up 30 minutes before I need to catch my bus to work, and I had Burger King for dinner 2 nights last week…sigh). For me, the brightening and smoothing aspect of this serum was my biggest result, and one that I am definitely happy with. We can all use a little glow in our lives!

The OST Original Pure Vitamin C20 Serum is available at Wishtrend for 19.99USD, which is a super awesome deal for such a great product.
